Roundup: Lady Mavs, PikeView boys take wins

LINDSIDE — The James Monroe Lady Mavericks allowed five or fewer points in each quarter to the visiting River View Raiders and took a 36-15 decision in Lindside on Saturday to improve to 7-2 this season.

Kelsie Mann recorded a double-double for the Lady Mavs with 11 points and 16 rebounds. Carter Shiflet chipped in six points and nine rebounds. Courtney Sams scored nine points.

Chelsey Dobbs led River View (1-7) with five points.

River View plays at Wyoming East on Monday. James Monroe plays at Summers County on Tuesday.

SHADY SPRING — Logan McKinney scored 20 points and Zach Meadows added nine points and 11 rebounds, leading PikeView to a third place finish in the Shady Spring Shootout.

Austin Cordell added 12 points for PikeView, while Tanner Farley had nine and Jason Weitzel contributed seven points and seven assists.

Independence (1-5) was paced by Shane Greco (19), Cody Collins (16) and Demonte Hill (10).

PikeView (2-4) will host Independence in a rematch on Tuesday.

GRUNDY, Va. — Grundy’s Charles McCoy burned the nets for 20 points but the Golden Wave dropped a home decision on Saturday after being limited to 10 points in the middle two quarters combined.

Grundy is at Council in BDD play on Tuesday.

HINTON — The Summers County Bobcats improved to 5-2 with a 65-46 win over the Greenbrier West Cavaliers, Saturday night.

Ta’Ron Ayers led the Bobcats with 24 points and T.J. Smith added 21.

Josh Martin led the Cavaliers with 12 points and 13 rebounds.

Summers County plays at Wyoming East on Tuesday.
