Buffalos hand Bears second loss of season

FLOYD, Va. — Bland County’s seven-game win streak came to an end at the hands of the only squad to beat the Bears this season, Floyd County, on Thursday night by a score of 84-68.

The visiting Bland County team was held to 15 points or less in each of the first three quarters before scoring 28 in the final eight minutes, but the Bears could not overcome their hosts’ 67-40 lead going into the final period.

Asher Dillow scored 37 points for BC, making four three-point goals. For Floyd County, Kaleb Tanner had 22 points and Preston Neukirch 21. The two combined for seven of the Buffaloes’ nine treys.

Bland County plays at Tazewell on Dec. 28. The date was originally scheduled to be a quad match, but has been changed to one boys game only.
