It took 13 innings, but Elizabethton was able to take down the Blue Jays, defeating Bluefield 3-2 on Friday night.
Bowen Field was filled with 851 spectators, many of whom had seen the Blue Jays rally for six runs in the bottom of the eighth to beat the West Division-leading Elizabethton Twins on Thursday.
Elizabethton (11-3) rallied for three runs in the 13th, on a run-scoring triple by Bryan Haar, an RBI double from Ryan Rhodes and a run-scoring by Logan Wade.
The Twins out-hit the Blue Jays 16-9, scoring two runs in the top of the fourth, only to see the Blue Jays score single runs in the fourth and seventh.
Bluefield (10-4) used six pitchers, with Adaric Kelly taking the loss. Five hurlers went for Elizabethton, with Austin Malinowski picking up the win.
Matt Dean, who had the two-run double that proved to be the difference on Thursday, led the Blue Jays with two hits. Derrick Loveless and Dawel Lugo drove in runs for Bluefield, which had nine hits, all singles. They also struck out 17 times.
Zach Granite, Tanner Vavra and Haar had three hits each for the Twins. Rhodes and Kelvin Ortiz added two apiece. Haar had a triple.
Bluefield will host Elizabethton again tonight at 7:05 p.m.
