SHORT GAP —
The Frankfort Falcons owned the airways during the first half before controlling the ground in the second to hammer Summers County 38-7 Saturday at Frankfort Stadium in the opening round of the Class AA playoffs.
Thane Cutter caught four balls for 89 yards and two touchdowns in the first 24 minutes, and Damian Morgan ran for 113 yards and two touchdowns in the final 24 as the Falcons kept the Bobcats guessing as two what was coming most of the evening.
It was Summers County (7-4) who had the Falcons a little rattled early on, taking the opening drive right down the field for the first points of the night.
Isaiah Brown returned the opening kickoff to the 50 and the Bobcats moved to the 33, getting a handful of yards each carry, to face a fourth-and-four. Quarterback T.J. Smith picked up six yards on a keeper for the first down before Brown took a direct snap from the center and finished the drive with a 27-yard run with 8:52 remaining in the first quarter.
Brown led the Bobcats with 77 yards on 16 rushes.
The Falcons picked up a safety when a snap sailed over the Summers County punter and into the end zone, where the Bobcats fell on it.
Frankfort then went 68 yards in 10 plays to take its first lead.
Frankfort (9-2) will play at Bridgeport at 7:30 on Friday.
