PRINCETON — McKenzie Akers of Princeton has been chosen as the Mountain State Athletic Conference player of the year. Akers, who has committed to play at Marshall, became the Tigerettes’ all-time leading scorer this season, leading Princeton to a 19-6 record and a berth in the Class AA state quarterfinals. Senior Hannah Preservati was chosen to the MSAC second team. Special honorable mention went to Marissa Mullins, while Jessica Inman was tabbed for honorable mention selection. Spring Valley’s Larry Miller and Scott James of St. Albans were MSAC co-coaches of the year.
Princeton senior Ryan Meadows has earned first team honors from the Mountain State Athletic Conference. Meadows, who scored 21.9 points a game this season, was one of eight players on the first team. Meadows led the Tigers a 17-6 record this season. Classmate Hunter Walters was selected for special honorable mention, contributing 12.5 points and 10.4 boards a contest. Sophomore Aaron Ferguson was an honorable mention selection. George Washington’s Luke Eddy was the MSAC player of the year. Coach of the year honors went to Ron Kidd of Woodrow Wilson.
