King's Warriors to close out road trip on Wednesday

CINCINNATI — The Southern West Virginia King's Warriors will close out their four-game road trip Wednesday by taking on the Cincinnati Dutch Lions at Xavier University. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.

The King's Warriors will close out their three-game season series Wednesday against Cincinnati having faced the Dutch Lions three times in 19 days, and twice in the past five days.

Southern West Virginia (1-2-2 for 5 points) have played level in both the previous matches with Cincinnati (2-0-3 for 7 points). The King's Warriors tied the Dutch Lions 1-1 on May 24 in Bluefield, and then played to a 2-2 draw this past Saturday in Cincinnati.

Southern West Virginia Head Coach Scott Reitnour previewed Wednesday's match with the Dutch Lions.

"We love playing Cincinnati," he said. "They are well organized, they take a professional approach to the game, and they are very competitive, so we relish the privilege of competing against them.

“We have drawn twice in two games against them, so it will be interesting to see what adjustments they make as we head into game three. Our players are excited for the opportunity to compete on the road."

In the two previous ties, each team was able to come from behind to secure a point in the PDL's South Atlantic Division standings.

On May 24 in Bluefield Itode Fubara scored in stoppage time to give Southern West Virginia a 1-1 tie with the Dutch Lions. This past Saturday in Cincinnati with the King's Warriors up 2-1, Rowin van Zaanen scored for for the Dutch Lions four minutes into the second half to tie the score at 2-2 as the match finished level.     

The King's Warriors next home game will be this Saturday, June 14 when Southern West Virginia will host the SC United Bantams for a second time this season at 7 p.m. at the East River Soccer Complex.  

Saturday's home game is being dubbed "Orange Out" night. King's Warriors' fans are asked to wear  orange in support of the team, with the most "spirited-dressed" fan receiving a special prize.
