G-Girls volley past Pioneers, win third in a row

HONAKER, Va. — The Graham G-Girls won their third straight volleyball match on Tuesday evening, defeating Fort Chiswell 25-20, 25-18, 25-20 in the GHS gym.

Emily Lewis provided seven serves in the final game, while Erika Jollay had eight serves in one game and added four in another. Graham got “a lot of power from hitters Taylor Webb and Emily Gallinger,” said head coach Omi Oakes.

Alysia Leung, Sami Lewis and Morgan Whisman were among the top defenders, Oaks said.

Graham (3-7) plays Thursday at defending state champion Grayson County.

The winning streak “just shows the girls that we can do it,” Oakes said.



Grayson Co. 3, Narrows 0

NARROWS, Va. — The Blue Devils defeated the Green Wave 25-15, 25-13, 25-15 on Monday. For Grayson County, Camryn McGrady had 14 kills and five blocks, and Taylor Cannaday provided 23 assists.

Narrows (7-5, 3-1) was led by Courtney Smith with 14 assists and Lindsey Kast with six kills. The Green Wave hosts Galax on Thursday.



Princeton sweeps in tri-match

GARDNER — The Princeton volleyball team picked up two wins in a tri-match at PikeView High School on Tuesday.

The Tigers defeated Independence 25-22, 14-25, 25-23.

Against the Patriots, Taylor Hamm had 22 digs, Adrianna Mitchem had 27 assists and eight digs, and Chelsea Browning had eight digs, seven service points and an ace. Kaleigh Barker had 14 kills, four blocks, eight digs, seven service points and an ace.

Against PikeView, Princeton won 25-21, 25-18. Hamm had 16 digs, Mitchem had 11 assists, Erika Davis had five kills, and McKenzi Barnett had four kills, 12 service points and four aces.

The Tigers (14-8-2) host Liberty on Thursday.

The Princeton JV beat PikeView 27-25, 25-21. Kristen Walker had five kills and Tori Satterfield had eight assists, six service points, four aces and three digs for Princeton. Kayla Aboulhosn had six digs, seven service points and an ace.
