PikeView girls claim 100th win in program history

SUMMERSVILLE — The 100th win in the history of the PikeView High girls’ soccer program took place Saturday, in the midst of its seventh season of play, with a 1-0 win at Nicholas County High School.

After a corner kick by Shyann Carr bounced among several players, Kari Shrewsbury netted the unassisted score from in front of the Grizzlies’ goal.

The Panthers’ goalkeeper Kristen Brinkley had three saves.

The PikeView girls (9-4) host Wyoming East Monday at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday will be senior night at Gardner for the seniors on the boys and girls soccer teams. A brief ceremony will be held between the two games with Bluefield. The boys game starts at 5 p.m.

SUMMERSVILLE — Four Panthers scored in Saturday’s shutout win on the road.

Seth Wood had two goals and an assist. Hunter Klein, Blake Hopkins and Beau Smith also scored, and Klein recorded an assist as well. Austin Cordell had three saves for PikeView (8-3-1), while Nicholas County’s Justin Browning had 18 saves.

PikeView hosts Greenbrier East on Monday.
