Regional briefs: Currence Classic starts Friday

BLUEFIELD —

Five PikeView soccer players have been chosen to the All- Coalfield Conference girls soccer team. PikeView, which advanced to the Class AA-A state tournament, was represented by Laura Hill, left, Kristen Brinkley, Shyann Carr, Crysta Meekins and Charlotte Webster. Allison Shaw (Bluefield) and Emily McKinney and Rebecca Sparks (James Monroe) were also first team honorees. Hill, one of the top players in the state, set an official state record for goals this season.

PikeView: Brooke Baker, Kassie Catron, Courtney Gray, Madison May; Bluefield: Emma Cole; James Monroe: Amanda Amos, Kelsie Gillespie.
