A quintet of PikeView track athletes captured first place honors in the Oak Hill Invitational held on Tuesday in a meet featuring 14 schools from across the area.
Jasmine Johnson won the shot put (30’4), while Laura Hill, Lauryn Hatfield, Katelyn Odle and Alexis May captured the 4x800 meter relay (11:18) for the PikeView girls, who finished in sixth place with 29 points.
PikeView also placed in other events, including May (6th, 400 meters, 1:09), Hatfield (5th, 1,600 meters , 6:18), Odle (5th, 3,200 meters, 15:00; 6th, 1,600 meters, 6:20) and Johnson (5th, discus, 71’4”).
The PikeView boys were fourth in the event with 44 points, led by Jason Weitzel, who was first in the 3,200 meters (10:55), and was part of the first place 4x800 relay team (9:08) that also included Vaughn Campbell, Hunter Klein and Chris McBride.
Weitzel was also second in the 1,600 meters (4:55) and third in the 800 meters (2:11). Klein placed third in the 400 meters (53.4) and fourth in the 200 meters (24.4).
