King College rallies past Mountain Lions; Rams sting Wasps

BRISTOL, Tenn. — King College scored 10 runs over the final two innings to rally from a 9-2 deficit and defeat Concord 12-11 on Wednesday afternoon.

Concord (17-14) saw its five-game win streak snapped.

Concord was led in the defeat by Devin Smith and freshman Joe Camp. Smith drove in a team-high three runs while Camp went 5-for-5 with a double and two RBI. The five-hit game was Camp's second of the season.

T.J. Brockway and Joe Mays both added a pair of RBI each.

Grundy product Cody Justus took the loss on the mound for Concord.

Concord, which out-hit King 16-15, will host Charleston with two games on Saturday and one on Sunday.

Emory & Henry 7

BLUEFIELD — The Bluefield College Rams rapped out 23 hits enroute to a victory over Emory & Henry, Wednesday evening at Bowen Field.

Zac Russell-Myers, Jabob Wright and Chris Rosa each collected four hits and Trevor Martin banged out three, including a home run to lead the BC hit parade.

BC (15-18) used a five-run third inning and six-run sixth to claim the win.

Kyle Long picked up his fifth win of the season as he worked six innings of five-hit baseball.

CU’s Peareth

wins tourney

ROANOKE — Concord University women’s golfer Stephanie Peareth took home medalist honors and Marina Erice placed second at the John Barbour Memorial at the Palmer Course at Stonewall Jackson Resort.

Peareth shot a two-round total of 157 for her third win of the season. She shot an opening-round 83 before bouncing back with a 74 in the second round to win the title. Peareth also finished in first place at the FSU invitational and the WVIAC Northern Regional earlier in the year.

Southern Regional

SOUTH CHARLESTON — Evan Muscari finished two shots back of medalist honors and the Concord men’s golf team finished tied for third at the WVIAC Southern Regional from the Berry Hills Country Club.

Concord finished tied with Charleston with a two-round total of 634, just four shots back of Bluefield State and Davis & Elkins, who tied for first place.
