BLUEFIELD — Ken Huckaby will be the Bluefield Blue Jays hitting coach this summer. He spent six seasons as a major-league catcher, three of them with Toronto, plus stints with Arizona, Texas, Baltimore and Boston. He also played 18 years in the minors, with a lifetime .271 batting average.
Huckaby played his last major league game in 2006 with Boston and his last professional game in 2008 in the Kansas City Royals organization.
"We are looking forward to having Ken join the coaching staff this season," said Bluefield General Manager Jeff Gray, "He brings a wealth of professional baseball knowledge and experience to the team, to help develop our Bluefield hitters in 2013."
Huckaby was drafted in the 22nd round of the 1991 Amateur Player Draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers. He made his Major League debut on October 6, 2001 with the Arizona Diamondbacks.
