Shady Spring stops PikeView

COAL CITY — Chase Conner scored 34 points to lead the Shady Spring Tigers to an 80-60 win over the PikeView Panthers, Friday night.

Zach Meadows led the PikeView attack with 13 and Jason Weitzel added 12 with six rebounds.

The Panthers (5-12) return to action Tuesday night when they host Summers County.

INDEPENDENCE, Va. — Ty Cannaday scored 22 points and Lucas Rhudy added 16, and Grayson County completed the Mountain Empire District with a perfect 10-0 record.

Graham was paced by Spencer Sheets with 15 points, while Colby Hill added 14.

Both Grayson County and Graham earn first round byes and will play in the Mountain Empire District semifinals on Thursday at Fort Chiswell.

Pipestem Christian 50, Calvary Christian 46

HURRICANE — Pipestem Christian went 8-for-8 at the free throw line in the final two minutes and defeated homestanding Calvary Christian 50-46, Friday night.

Austin Peyton tallied a game-high 22 and Zayne Worley had 11. Worley was 6-of-6 at the charity stripe and Peyton 2-of-2 in the final minutes of the game.

Pipestem finishes its regular season at 17-2 and plays next on Thursday in the WVCA Tournament in Summersville against Grace Christian.

NARROWS, Va. — Dominic DiGiacamo scored 13 points and Chase Garvey added 10 to lead the Maroon Tide past the Green Wave.

Narrows was paced by Chandler Burton with 13 points and 10 rebounds, while Gavin Givens tallied 10 points.

Narrows will visit Fort Chiswell in the opening round of the Mountain Empire District tournament on Monday. Galax will visit Bland County on the same night.

FORT CHISWELL, Va. — Brett Mabry scored 11 points and Jared Hovencamp and Dylan Hale added 10 each for the Pioneers, which rallied with a 21-point fourth quarter to beat the Bears.

Asher Dillow led Bland County with 20 points, including four 3s, while Darryl Clark tallied 15.

HILLSVILLE, Va. — Ryan Gravley scored 19 points and the Cavaliers finished up the Southwest District regular reason with an 8-0 record and a 21-1 mark.

Noah Walker tallied 17 points for Tazewell, while Jalen Jordan added 13.

Tazewell will host Richlands in the SWD tournament on Monday.

Carroll County will host the winner of that game in the semifinals on Wednesday.
