Compton’s double-double leads Richlands

RICHLANDS, Va. — Sarah Compton scored 10 points and pulled down 11 rebounds, and the Richlands Lady Blues defeated Honaker 62-51 on Saturday at Richlands Middle School.

Richlands placed four players in double figures, including Brittany Allen (22), Cassidy Richardson (12) and MaKenley Davis (11). Rachel Alley scored eight points and added 10 boards.

Brooke Wolford connected for four 3s to finish with 15 for Honaker, while Madison Miller tossed in 10.

Richlands (10-2) returns to Southwest District play on Tuesday at Marion.

PRINCETON — McKenzie Akers scored 18 points and dished out eight assists, leading the Tigerettes past the Vikings.

Khadija Payne added 16 points for Princeton and Marissa Mullins tossed in 14. The Tigerettes were 10 for 17 from 3-point range, led by four from Akers, and two each from Mullins, Hannah Preservati and Jessica Inman.

Payne led Princeton (10-2) with eight rebounds.

Chelsey Hager was the lone Ripley player in double figures, finishing with 14 points.

HANNAN—Anna Taylor scored 16 points to lead Hannan past the Generals.

Miranda Kendrick led Montcalm with 15 points and Leslie Kelley added 11.

Montcalm will visit Mercer Christian on Tuesday.

HINTON — Shelby Smith’s layup at the buzzer lifted the Summers County Bobcats to a 50-49 win over the Scott Skyhaws in a matchup of highly ranked  West Virginia Class AA teams.

Brandy Morrison led the Lady Bobcats with 20 points while Jamie Dotson led Scott with 22.
