Panthers outscore Graham

BLUEFIELD, Va. — Lyndsay Hatfield scored 17 points and Madison May added 13, leading PikeView to a 55-46 win over Graham on Friday night.

Courtney White added 10 points for PikeView, and Lauryn Hatfield tossed in eight.

Lexi Kiser had 14 points for Graham, while Dejah Carter added 13 points and 17 rebounds for the turnover-plagued G-Girls, who also struggled to shoot the ball, according to head coach Tracy Raban.

PikeView (7-1), which defeated Graham earlier in the season 48-41, will host Nicholas County on Friday.

The game served as a benefit game for Graham (3-3) and won’t count in the record. The G-Girls will visit Bluefield on Monday, looking to avenge a 50-46 loss early this month to the Beavers.

FORT CHISWELL, Va. — Connor Lundy scored 19 points to lead four Carroll County scorers in double figures in the opening round of the First Bank of Virginia Christmas Tournament at Fort Chiswell High School.

Cody Keith added 17 points for Graham, while Dane Shinault and Gumar Beamer tallied 14 points apiece.

Graham was led by Colby Hill with 23 and Roman Workman added 19.

Graham (2-3) will play Fort Chiswell today at 5:30 p.m.

LEBANON, Va. — Wes Peck scored 16 points , Charles McCoy added 15 and Jordan McCoy tossed in 14 to lead Grundy past Marion in the Lebanon Invitational.

Grundy, which led 20-8 after the first quarter and 33-22 at the break, will play Lebanon in the championship game tonight.

Trey Crook paced Marion with 23 points. Nick Stiefel added 15 and Riley Blevins tossed in 11.

Cincinnati Woodward was paced by Isaiah Jones with 23 points and 11 from Andrew Mincey.

Wyoming East (2-0), which has played just two games all season, will host North Marion today at 5:30 p.m.

PEARISBURG, Va. — Mercer Christian won five games in one day during the Jefferson Christian Invitational on Friday.

MCA played five games, which included 15-minute running halves, with the clock stopping only over the final two minutes.

Prep Wrestling

GRUNDY, Va. — The Grundy wrestling team was able to advance nine wrestlers to the semifinals of the Agie Skeens Invitational on Friday night.

Grundy and Johnson Central, Ky. were neck-and-neck for first place in the prestigious event, with the semis and finals slated for today.

Grundy wrestlers that reached the semifinals included Andy Webb (106 pounds), Maverick Coleman (113), Austin Hurley (126), Trey Smith (145), Elliott Pedigo (152), Dylan Raines (160), Tristan Bonds (170) and Jordan McCowan (182).

Wes Belcher also advanced from the Grundy “B” team.
