Roundup: G-Girls fall short in Shootout final

Narrows boys beat Giles to stay undefeated

WYTHEVILLE, Va. — The Graham G-Girls fell to the Chilhowie Lady Warriors 65-55 in the finals of the Perry Coe Shootout, Friday night at George Wythe High School.

Lexi Kiser led the G-Girls with 31 points and Dejah Carter added 12.

Chilhowie’s Danielle Catron had a game-high 32 and Ckoreea Branch tallied 12.

Graham will next play on Dec. 27, when the G-Girls host PikeView.

WYTHEVILLE, Va. — Whitney Saunders tossed in 16 points and Haley Christian added 14 to lead the Bulldogs past the Eagles in the Perry Coe Shootout.

Tazewell (6-4) took a 28-9 at the break. Holloway canned three 3s for the Bulldogs. Autumn Hash also eight nine points.

Brooke Bostwick paced Auburn with 12 points, while Jessalyn Monday tallied 11.

George Wythe defeated Fort Chiswell 65-41 in the third place game.

PRINCETON — Savannah Shamblin scored 26 points to lead Nitro past the Tigerettes on Thursday night at Coach Ralph Ball Court.

Princeton, which travels to Nicholas County today, was paced by Kaleigh Barker with 21 points. She made 9 of 11 free throws and pulled down seven rebounds.

Narrows 58, Giles 52

NARROWS, Va. — Rodney Perdue scored 21 points and Chandler Burton added 15, leading Narrows to a win over cross-county rival Giles to improve to 7-0 on the season.

Gavin Givens added 10 points and at least seven rebounds for the Green Wave, which will play Giles again today in the Narrows Athletic Fund Christmas Tournament championship at around 4:30 p.m.

That will be the fourth of four games on the afternoon.

Giles, which was led by John Shelor with 26 points, cut a 13-point deficit to two with two minutes to go, but the Green Wave pulled away to secure the win.

The Spartans dropped to 3-1 on the season.

FAIRLEA — Chandler Scott scored 18 point and Caleb Janning added 15 to lead the Cavaliers to a 30-point win.

A.J. Easter added 12 points for Mercer Christian (11-2), which will participate in the Jefferson Christian Tournament next week in Pearisburg.

Christian Morgan tallied 14 points in defeat.

HINTON — The Bobcats used a big third quarter to give coach Robert Bowling his first varsity win.

Summers (1-2) hit three 3s and forced Covington into numerous turnovers to outscore the Virginia squad 23-12 in the decisive period.

Sophomore Matt Ryan lit the scoreboard with 27 points. Terry Smith had 14, while Jacob Lively scored 12. Dakota Thomas grabbed 12 rebounds.

Jordan Miller powered Covington (1-7) with 23 points. Kashawn Carter scored 11.

Summers will host Meadow Bridge Dec. 28.

Jordan Wilson led all scorers with 20 points for River View and Tyler Dehaven scored 11.

Cody Collins led the Patriots with a double-double scoring 10 points and grabbing 18 rebounds. Adam Tolliver added 11 points and Brandon Treadway chipped in 10 points.
