Prep roundup: PikeView sweeps past Midland Trail

HICO — Laura Hill scored all four goals to lead PikeView to a 4-1 win over Midland Trail on Tuesday night.

Hill now has 49 goals this season. PikeView had three assists, including one each by Charlotte Webster, Sophie Klein and Brooke Baker. Kristen Brinkley had one save in goal for the Panthers.

Molly Sevy scored the goal for Midland Trail. Savannah Skaggs had four saves.

PikeView (13-3-2), the eighth ranked Class AA/A team in West Virginia, will host Senior Night on Thursday against Shady Spring at 5 p.m.

PikeView 7, Midland Trail 0

HICO — Alec White and Alex Testerman scored two goals apiece to lead the 11th ranked Panthers past the Patriots.

Quinton Brown, Isaac Harrison and Nathaniel Ellis had a goal each for the Panthers. Harrison added an assist, as did Brandon Calfee, Vaughn Campbell, Gene Weatherly and Nick Coker.

Austin Cordell had four saves in goal. Nickolas Brewer also had four saves for Midland Trail.

PikeView (9-6-2) will host Shady Spring on Thursday at 7 p.m.

Coalfield Conference X/C

GARDNER — PikeView sophomore Jason Weitzel pulled the upset, defeating sophomore Brettley Harris of Webster County in the Coalfield Conference Cross Country Championships on Tuesday.

Weitzel set a personal record (P.R.) time of 17:07. Garett Butler finished 13th for PikeView with a time of 19:49.

Katelyn Odle paced the PikeView girls, finishing in fourth place and earning All-Coalfield Conference recognition, having been clocked in 23:17.

Kaylin Kessenger narrowly missed the same honors, placing 12th in 25:29. Raelynn Smith returned from injury and placed 21st in 30:28.

Volleyball

Princeton wins two

PRINCETON — Delaney Najar and Taylor Murphy helped Princeton win a pair of matches on Tuesday against PikeView and Oak Hill at Princeton Senior High School.

Najar had 13 kills and 10 digs and Murphy added 11 kills in Princeton’s 25-20, 15-25, 28-26 win over PikeView. Taylor Hamm added 16 digs and Haley Conner contributed 33 assists and eight digs.

Kaleigh Barker led Princeton with 15 kills in a 25-19, 24-26, 25-16 win over Oak Hill. Najar and Murphy had nine kills apiece. Conner dished out 31 assists and Hamm had 16 digs.

Oak Hill defeated PikeView in the third game of the night.

Princeton (19-10) will travel Thursday to Charleston Catholic.

Narrows tops Ft. Chiswell

FT. CHISWELL, Va. — The Narrows Green Wave improved to 7-2 in Mountain Empire District play with a three set win, 25-15, 15-19, 25-12 over the Ft. Chiswell Pioneers, Tuesday evening.

Shayna Davis had 14 assists, 10 digs and an ace. Tiffany Perdue added 11 kills, five aces and 10 digs, while Tiffany Kast contributed seven kills and a block.

Narrows is 11-6 in all games played and hosts Grayson County on Thursday.
