PikeView wins with four in the fourth

Panthers squeak by Wyoming East

GARDNER — With two outs in the fourth inning Monday evening, Ryan Roberts hit a go-ahead two-RBI single to left-center for PikeView High School, providing the Panthers the edge they needed to defeat Wyoming East 4-3 at Ritchie Field.

PikeView’s Kevin Cottle struck out eight Warriors and allowed four hits in a complete-game effort. Derek Thornton pitched all six innings for Wyoming East with five strikeouts.

Cottle and Zach Meadows went 2 for 3 for the Panthers with an RBI apiece. Roberts was 1 for 3.

Austin Canada was 1 for 3 and scored a run for the Warriors.

PikeView (10-6) hosts Wyoming County’s other school, Westside, this evening.
