Views to play for Little General title

BRADSHAW — The championship game tonight in the Little General Invitational will have a decided local flavor, as Mount View and River View captured wins last night in the tourney’s opening round.

The Golden Knights downed Mountain Mission 47-41 in the evening’s inaugural contest, while the host Lady Raiders ran past Independence 53-15 in the nightcap.

Mountain Mission held a 16-15 lead after the opening frame, but the Knights took control in the middle two chapters to claim their second win in as many games.

Junior Keisha Johnson’s 22 points led the View, while Jasmine Lash and Gezelle Brown added eight apiece. Belse Brook paced the Lady Challengers with 15, while Victoria Wickman and Lensa Asefa contributed 11 each.

Mountain Mission falls to 3-5 with the setback.

In the second game, River View took a 15-0 lead to start and never looked back in taking the decision.

Freshman Katie Dobbs scored 21 to lead the 1-1 Lady Raiders, while Kiersten Dority tossed in a dozen.

Chloe Layne led the 0-2 Lady Patriots with seven points.

Independence will face Mountain Mission at 6 this evening in the consolation game, with the Views battling at 8 for the title.
