COACHING

NARROWS, Va. — An evening to celebrate the accomplishments of former Narrows coach Bill Patteson will be held on Dec. 1 at Narrows High School. A coaching veteran of more than 30 years, Patteson coached the Green Wave to district titles in football, basketball and track. The evening will start with a reception at 5 p.m., followed by a dinner in the cafeteria. Numerous guest speakers will participate. BASEBALL

BECKLEY — Woodrow Wilson High School will host a six-week Spring Training baseball program for players in grades 1-8 from Jan. 13 -Feb. 17. Flying Eagles’ head coach Mark Daniel will direct the program in conjunction with Midwest Baseball Academy. Sessions are offered in advanced hitting and pitching at a cost of $99 for six weeks. CASTLEWOOD, Va. — The 2nd annual Holiday Hoop Fest will be held Dec. 8 at Castlewood High School. There will be a 3-game guarantee and a $100 entry fee. ATHENS — The Concord University athletic office is seeking nominations for “youth heroes” in sports to be honored prior to selected Concord sporting events on campus. The process is open to middle schools, high schools, and rec league teams. To make a nomination, call (304) 384-5347.

OFFICIATING

PARKERSBURG — The WVSSAC is actively seeking interested individuals in athletics to become registered sport officials. The WVSSAC currently registers officials in eleven sports and sponsors 44 state championships for its 294 member schools. Presently, the WVSSAC has 3,500 officials for 11 sports and 44 state championships among 294 member schools, but there is a serious shortage of officials in wrestling, baseball, softball and swim. Regionally shortages exist in the all sports including: baseball, basketball, cheer, football, soccer, softball, swim, tennis, track and field, volleyball and wrestling. All individuals, ages 18-and-over, are urged to contact the WVSSAC at (304) 485-5494.
