AFTERNOON UPDATE: Playoff games approach for Beavers, Tornado

Bluefield Daily Telegraph

BLUEFIELD — The Bluefield Beavers and Richlands Blue Tornado will play a little post-Thanksgiving football in playoff action on Friday.

Bluefield (10-2) will travel to Magnolia (12-0) in a Class AA state semifinal game, while Richlands (10-1) will visit Cave Spring (9-2) for the Region IV, Division 3 championship game.

Bluefield quarterback Levi Beckett — whose family has a long tradition with Beavers' football — and linebacker Matthew Riggs are key cogs for Bluefield, while quarterback Cody Johnson and reserve running back Cody Parnell have been important contributors for the Blue Tornado.

Read more about both teams and some of their contributors in Thursday's Daily Telegraph.
