BLUEFIELD, Va. — The Bluefield College Lady Rams improved to 2-0 on the season with a 78-65 win over Asbury College (Ky.) on Tuesday night at the Dome Gymnasium.

Kia Gilliard led Bluefield with 15 points, while Heather Ferrell had 11 and Brittney Whaley and Kayla Lewis added 10 apiece. Lewis also had eight assists for the Rams, which led 41-17 at halftime.

Twin sisters De’Arra and De’Onna Darling combined for 11 points and 13 rebounds. Katana Mullens and Takieya Rouse added eight points apiece.

Courtney Albin led Asbury with 23 points, while Anna Stephenson canned 18 in the loss. Asbury, which arrived later than expected because of transportation issues, shot 4-of-20 in the first half.

Bluefield (2-0) will travel this weekend to Asbury to play in the Asbury College Classic.

The Rams will play Indiana-Southeast on Friday at 6 p.m, followed by a 3 p.m. rematch with Asbury on Saturday.
