Tigers defeat defending state champs on pitch

Staff report
Bluefield Daily Telegraph

PRINCETON — The Tigers took down the champs. Mashi Johnson, Casey Hazelwood and Jeremy McCormick scored goals, and Sean Williams kept George Washington out of Princeton’s net, as the Tigers defeated the defending Class AAA state champions 3-0 on Saturday afternoon.

McCormick and Jeremy Chambers had an assist apiece, while Williams stopped eight shots.

Johnson gave Princeton a 1-0 lead in the first half with a goal at the 23rd minute. The Tigers added two more after the break on shots by Hazelwood (41st minute) and McCormick (63)

Princeton (7-2) will travel Tuesday to Ripley. George Washington dropped to 5-3-1.
