TAZEWELL, Va. — The Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office Relay for Life Team and the American Cancer Society are sponsoring a Trout Rodeo on Saturday, Sept. 20, from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. at the Tazewell Moose Lodge stream located just off Route 19. The stream will be stocked with rainbow trout and all proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society. RUN/WALK

BLUEFIELD, Va. — The Bluefield College Jason Elswick Scholarship Challenge 5K Run will be held Saturday, Sept. 6, starting at the college’s Dome Gymnasium. The purpose of the event is to support the fund, established at Bluefield College shortly after Elswick died in a car accident in October of ‘05. Awards will be presented to the top three male runners, the top three female sprinters, and the top three participants in each of the age categories. Individual or corporate sponsorships to support the 5K Run are available at a cost of $100. Sponsors will receive recognition in promotional publications and on t-shirts presented to all race participants. BLUEFIELD — Bluefield State College will be sponsoring the third annual Brian A. Delp 5K Memorial on Sept. 27 at 9 a.m. at Glenwood State Park on Rt. 20. This year race will feature a 5K Run and 5K Walk, with a cookout after the race. The cost is $15 before Sept. 27 and $18 the day of the race. The 5K walk is $8. Trophies will be awarded to overall male/female winners in both races and the top three finishers in each age group in the 5K run. All registered participates will receive t-shirts.
