Beavers trail Irish in tennis

CHARLESTON — Chad Brady and Cory Warner advanced to the semifinal round with wins on Thursday in the Class A/AA State Tennis Tournament.
Brady won twice, while Warner won once after getting a first round bye. Freshman Chas Stonestreet loss his match.
Charleston Catholic leads after one day with six points, while Wheeling Central has five and Bluefield follows with four.
In girls action, Madison Hayes won twice and Grace Sudduth got a single win, with both advancing to the semifinals. Top-ranked Paige Belcher split a pair of matches, which eliminated her from the singles competition.
As with the boy, Charleston Catholic leads the girls with five points, followed by four apiece from Bluefield and Petersburg.
Doubles play will begin today, allow with more singles action as well.
Princeton scored two points in the Class AAA tourney. Alex Sinicrope and Austin Cox are participating for the Tigers.
