Bland County pulls away from Green Wave

ROCKY GAP, Va. — Laurel Hankins scored 19 points and Kirby Mustard tossed in 10, leading Bland County to a 51-35 Mountain Empire District win over Narrows on Tuesday night at Rocky Gap High School.

Morgan Buckland led the Green Wave (10-3, 0-1) with 14 points. Narrows travels Friday to Galax.

Kristin Dunn added eight points and eight rebounds, while Morgan Brizendine pulled down seven boards for the Bears (11-2, 2-0), which will host Richlands on Thursday.

HINTON — Leslie Mack hit five 3s to finish with 27 points, connecting on 10-of-12 field goals to lead the Bobcats to a 70-point win over the Mavericks.

Hallie Gunnoe scored 17 points and grabbed six rebounds, and Hanna Gunnoe added 1o points for top-ranked Summers County (11-0), which hosts Shady Spring on Friday.

James Monroe was paced by Jade McDaniel with 10 points.

MEADOW BRIDGE — Krislyn Bogart scored 15 points and Tara Havens added 13 points and five rebounds, but the Generals dropped a Monday decision to the Wildcats.

Tanyette Bragg and Kelly Forren led Meadow Bridge with 12 points apiece. Lindsey Hamblin had 11 boards for Montcalm, while Niki Perry have rebounds and Kayla Pennington dished out five assists.

Montcalm (3-3) will host Bluefield next Monday.

NEW RICHMOND — Leah Cook canned four 3s on her way to 17 points, leading the Panthers past the Warriors.

Rachel Weatherly added 16 points, five assists and five steals for PikeView (6-2), while Amber Dickerson contributed 10 points and six boards.

Senetha Clay led Wyoming East (5-3) with 17 points, while Jodi Canada added 11.

PikeView, which hosts Nicholas County on Thursday, also received five points and 14 boards by Kimmie Thomas, and 11 points and five steals from Kaitlyn Gillespie.

PRINCETON — Balanced scoring helped the Lady Cavaliers to a 22-point home win Tuesday night. Danielle Preservati had 15 points and 12 rebounds; Morgan Hobbs also scored 15; and Casey Cannon added 14 points, nine rebounds and three assists.

Elizabeth Yoder scored 23 for the visitors from the Kanawha Valley.

The Lady Cavaliers play Thursday night at Mountain Mission near Grundy, Va.
