BASEBALL

BLACKSBURG, Va. — Hall of Fame pitcher Jim Palmer is the featured speaker for the second annual “Baseball Night in Blacksburg” to benefit the Virginia Tech baseball program. The event is Feb. 7 from 6-9 p.m. in Lane Stadium. Palmer, a six-time all-star, won 268 games in a 19-year career, all with the Baltimore Orioles. For ticket information, call (540) 231-6618.

BLUEFIELD, Va. — The 2009 Bluefield, Va. Youth Basketball League is now accepting applications for the upcoming season. Applications can be picked up at area schools and at Bluefield Va. Town Hall.
