Students look forward to new accomodations

BLUEFIELD, Va. - — Work is progressing on new accomodations that will give a local college’s students the possibility of apartment living on campus.

After receiving suggestions from students, faculty and staff, the Bluefield College Board of Governors decided to call the new quarters now under construction the Bluestone Commons, said Dr. David Olive, president of Bluefield College. The name will be announced on campus Wednesday.

Motorists passing the campus can easily see the new buildings now taking shape.

“I think we’re on week 10 since they’ve broken ground, and I think they’re making great progress,” Olive said.

Each building under construction will have 12 units, he said. The college expects to have the first building open in August, and the second building is scheduled to open in the spring of 2015. Each unit will have the amenities of a regular apartment.
