Thanks to local generosity, more than 400 children are getting Christmas presents today.
Approximately 300 families are receiving gifts and food for Christmas dinner today at the Salvation Army Citadel in Bluefield. Capt. Jerry Lester said that donations dropped into Salvation Army red kettles have been down this year, but toy donations from the Greenbrier Resort, plus toys from the Bluefield Fire Department and Bluefield Police Department, have helped to meet Christmas needs this year.
“If it had not been for them, there would have been from 100 to 150 angels who would not have received as much this year,” Lester said of the donations.
