Sleet, freezing rain covers roadways in Bluefield

BLUEFIELD — Motorists in the Bluefield area faced an icy commute Tuesday morning as sleet and freezing rain covered roadways and vehicles.

West Virginia Department of Highway trucks were out across the region treating roadways.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory until 2 p.m. for the counties of Mercer, Tazewell, Bland, Giles, Union and Wytheville. Motorists can expect sleet and freezing rain. A wind advisory is also in affect in Mercer County until 7 p.m.
