An ice skating rink is coming to downtown Bluefield next month.
The Bluefield Preserva-tion Society will hold their first “Blue Holly Day” on Saturday, Dec. 14 this holiday season.
“We hope it will be a family occasion,” Skip Crane, treasurer for the Bluefield Preservation Society, said.
Located in The Depot District, there will be an ice skating rink, holiday photo village with Santa and the Grinch, and also craft beers available for purchase, Crane said.
This will be the first year the Bluefield Preservation Society has held this event and hopes for it to continue. The ice rink will open at 11 a.m., with Craft Memorial Library events, milk and cookies with Santa, edible delights, and more available from noon to 5 p.m. The Bluefield Christmas Parade will begin at 1 p.m.
“The more the merrier,” Crane said.
Crafts, foods and other Christmas items will be on sale.
Residents can purchase tickets for the craft beer tasting for $20, which will include five beers. Beers will be sold in the Granada’s lobby and the historic bank lobby, Crane said.
“We have so many great things planned for Bluefield and we are really excited for this to be one of our first ones,” Crane said.
Pictures with Santa and the Grinch will be free, so residents are asked to bring their own camera.
