Narcotics task force arrests local woman on synthetic pot charge

BLUEFIELD, Va. — The Tazewell County Narcotics Task Force arrested a former clerk of a Bluefield, Va., convenience store Wednesday on charges related to the possession and distribution of $35,000 worth of synthetic marijuana in the summer of 2012.

Jennifer Ann Sullivan, age unavailable, was accompanied by her attorney when she surrendered Tuesday to members of the task force. The task force started investigating the case in July 2012, when agents recovered the synthetic marijuana at Sullivan’s home in July 2012, according to a task force press release.

“The task force believes there are a number of individuals involved in this ring and hope to bring the remainder of those involved to justice,” according to the press release.

Sullivan was a former clerk at the SwiftMart in Bluefield, Va., according to the press release. The items seized were sent to Roanoke, Va., where a forensics lab determined they were synthetic marijuana.

Major Harold Heatley, chief deputy of the Tazewell County Sheriff’s office encouraged people to follow the department on Twitter  — @TazEwellSheriff.
