High waters cause problems at Giles county campground

NARROWS, Va. — Heavy rains during the past two days caused the New River to swell beyond its traditional banks in the Stock Pen section of Narrows, Va.

Giles County Sheriff W. Morgan Millirons said that the water rose to the steps of a trailer at a campground near Stock Pen Road, but no damage was reported.

“It stopped after it got up to a trailer there,” Millirons said. He said that in the early afternoon, that was the only report of flooding in the county.

For a more comprehensive look at flooding in the area, and the forecast for Thursday, see Thursday’s edition of the Bluefield Daily Telegraph.
