Golf carts stolen from Bluefield Elks

BLUEFIELD — Golfers who arrived at a local course this morning soon discovered that three golf carts had been stolen.

The loss was discovered this morning when the Bluefield Elks Country Club golf course was opened, said Jim Mattox, the golf shop manager.

“Basically, they broke into our cart barn, and three golf carts were stolen,” he said.

A witness later reported seeing three golf carts driving up Union Street at 5:25 a.m. today. Mattox said, “They had to have driven them from the club to Union Street.”

At least two of the golf carts have been found, a dispatcher at the Bluefield Police Department said.
