Printed warrants list helps find fugitive

TAZEWELL,Va. — A warrants list published in the Bluefield Daily Telegraph helped nab a wanted fugitive in Tazewell County.

Sabrina Pennington, 36, of Bluefield, was arrested Sunday at Ron’s Quick Stop in Brushfork for a probation violation stemming from a felony charge of embezzlement after a store clerk recognized her picture in the Bluefield Daily Telegraph, according to Cindy Tomlinson, communications officer for the Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office.

“The clerk at the convenience store was reading the newspaper, and Pennington and another male subject come in the store and could not pay for the gas they had pumped. They left an ID card and were supposed to return to pay for the gas, the clerk recognized her picture and called police. We had an officer respond and she was arrested,” Tomlinson said.

This was the first time that Tazewell County has run a wanted list in the Daily Telegraph and are very pleased with the result, Tomlinson said.

“We have high hopes that we can continue to arrest the people that are wanted on charges. We always appreciate the assistance that the public gives us,” Tomlinson said.

Warrants in Tazewell County will be running on Sundays in the Daily Telegraph.
