Police lift Amber Alert for 11-year-old; arrest Timothy Virts

BLUEFIELD — Baltimore County Police Chief Jim Johnson reaffirmed Saturday morning that 11-year-old Caitlyn Virts is safe and that the Baltimore County Police, Baltimore County’s Department of Health and Human Resources and the FBI will provide all available resources to help her and her siblings, according to a news release on the Baltimore County Police website.

Caitlyn’s father, Timothy Virts, 38, was found at 10:03 p.m. Friday night at the Colonial Motel in Florence, S.C., and was arrested on a charge of first-degree murder related to the death of Caitlyn’s mother, Bobbi Jo Cortez, 36, of Dundalk. Md.

Johnson credited “keyboard crimefighters” for their efforts in locating the missing 11-year-old.
