Trial underway in case of woman charged with attempted murder of Bluefield store clerk

PRINCETON — Opening statements were made Tuesday morning in the trial of a woman charged with attempted murder for running down a store clerk in February 2013 outside of a Bluefield store.

Dustie Beller, 32, of Arnette, faces charges of attempted murder, petit larceny, conspiracy, malicious wounding, and failure to stop and render aid, said Chief Mercer County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney George Sitler.

Beller allegedly ran down a store clerk, Mackenzie Ansley, 21, of Ballard, after another person stole a chainsaw from the Tractor Supply store in Bluefield on Feb. 8, 2013. Ausley later recovered, and is scheduled to testify.

The trial continues Tuesday afternoon.
