Police respond to report of a naked man at Mercer County restaurant

PRINCETON —  Mercer County 911 was contacted this afternoon when a patron at a local restaurant sat down in his booth naked.

Dispatchers received the call at 4:30 p.m. from the Omelet Spot on Oakvale Road near Princeton. Troopers with the West Virginia State Police Princeton detachment escorted the man to their headquarters, which are across the road from the restaurant.

Trooper J.L. Morris said the man, who appeared to be in his 60s, had gone to the restroom and returned without his clothes. He had recently been hospitalized, and appeared to be in diabetic shock.

“He didn’t know what he was doing,” Morris said. The man was checked out by EMS personnel and transported to Princeton Community Hospital, Morris stated.
