Man charged with first-degree arson

WELCH — A McDowell County man has been arrested on arson charges following a mobile home fire that created electrical outages.

Jimmy Ray Carter, 60, of Roderfield, is charged with first-degree arson and destruction of property following a fire at a mobile home that caused damage to both Appalachian Power and Frontier Communication service to local residents, according to a statement released by the McDowell County Sheriff Martin West.

Carter was arraigned before Magistrate Danny Mitchell and was remanded into the custody of the county holding facility in lieu of $30,000 bond.
