Cars lined up down Stadium Drive watching and waiting as the Holiday of Lights kicked off another year in the Bluefield City Park.
County Commissioner, Mike Vinciguerra and his granddaughter Abigail Hamer and Dwight Godwin, parks and recreation director flipped the switch at 6 p.m., to light up the 600,000 bulbs.
The light display began back in the 1990s and has grown since, Godwin said.
“The lights are a wonderful event for not only Bluefield, but surrounding communities and even other states,” Godwin said.
