With the holiday season right around the corner, the city of Bluefield is working hard to get the annual Holiday of Lights display ready.
The city has put on the light display for more than 10 years and it always draws a large crowd, including out of town visitors.
“Most of the displays are set up, and the guys are in the process of checking bulbs and wiring everything up,” Mayor Tom Cole said.
“We hope to have everything set up and running by Thanksgiving Day, City Manager Jim Ferguson said.
The kickoff for the Holiday of Lights display will be Thanksgiving evening, Ferguson said.
The display will be open Sunday through Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 6 to 10 p.m.
“We have a lot of out of state visitors that come to see the lights,” Ferguson said. “It’s still a good two weeks worth of work to make sure everything is working properly, but we are expecting large crowds, especially on that Thanksgiving weekend,” Ferguson added.
Also, Dec. 15 from 5 to 6 p.m. the display will be open for people to walk through the park and look at the lights, Ferguson said.
