Water shut off on section of Bluefield Avenue

BLUEFIELD — Five businesses are currently without water on Bluefield Avenue due to a water line break this morning, including the Daily Telegraph.

An eight-inch cast iron water main broke early this morning, said Laura Jordan, a spokesperson for West Virginia American Water. The water line is from the 1950s.

“We have repair crews on site,” Jordan said. “Right now, they’re working to pinpoint the leak and make the repairs.”

Work crews estimate that water will be restored by 5 p.m., but it might be repaired sooner, she said.

“We try to be conservative in our estimations,” Jordan said. “It depends on how quickly they dig it up and determine what kind of repairs are needed.”

No boil water notices have been issued at this time.
