PRINCETON — The West Virginia State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating a suspicious fire at the home of a Mercer County magistrate.
Assistant State Fire Marshal Scott Rodes said the state fire marshal’s office is currently investigating a residential fire that began in the carport of a home on Blake Avenue in Princeton. Rodes said the property is owned by a Mercer County magistrate, but the fire marshal’s office is not releasing the identify of the magistrate who owned the property due to the ongoing nature of the investigation.
Rodes said a vehicle was burned during the carport fire and the adjoining house also suffered some fire damage. No one was injured in the fire and Rodes said the cause “remains under investigation.” Assistant State Fire Marshall Zachary Bailey is leading the investigation into the Blake Avenue fire.
