FARMINGTON, Utah —
A preliminary hearing is underway that will determine whether a man facing aggravated murder and possibly the death penalty for the murder of a 4-year-old Tazewell County boy will go to trial.
Nathanael Warren Sloop, 34, was arrested on May 11, 2010 after the murder of Ethan Stacy, the biological son of his wife, 30-year-old Stephanie Sloop. Both are being held without bond in a Utah jail. Ethan Stacy was visiting his mother in Utah when he was killed.
The preliminary hearing will determine whether Nathanael Sloop’s case will go forward, according to a clerk with the Davis County Attorney’s Office. This hearing is scheduled to conclude Friday. Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty.
