BLUEFIELD —  With today’s edition, the Bluefield Daily Telegraph is launching a new online feature that will provide readers and viewers with an even more comprehensive way to follow their favorite local football teams.

The “BDT Blitz,” available at ( provides a wealth of information on 11 local teams with photos, mini-profiles of players and a scoreboard with quarter-by-quarter updates with real-time final scores.

There will be video and in-game updates of games of the week, with options including sections for cheerleaders, bands, coaches blogs as well as a “fan cam” feature soon to be part of the game of the week package.

“I’m borrowing this quote from our news editor Andy Patton, but, we’re hoping to build this into the local high school sports ESPN,” Darryl Hudson, publisher of the Bluefield Daily Telegraph said. Hudson said that a sister cnhi newspaper, the New Castle News in New Castle, Pa., has a similar feature. “We worked with the company that developed their web site to come up with ours,” Hudson said. “We turned this all around in two weeks.”

Hudson encouraged online readers to visit ( tonight and check out the site.
