Missing Mercer County teenager found safe at local hospital

BLUEFIELD — A search for a missing 17-year-old Mercer County teenager ended well Wednesday when she was found safe at a local hospital.

The family of Alissa Mann, 17, of Dillow Road off John Nash Boulevard near Bluefield reported her missing Wednesday morning. She had been sleeping in her bedroom Tuesday night, said her father, David Mann.

The West Virginia State Police and the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department searched the area around the home. The sheriff department’s bloodhound was also used at the scene. After the search was underway, the family provided a photograph and information to the Bluefield Daily Telegraph that was soon posted on the newspaper’s website.

Alissa Mann was located Wednesday afternoon at Bluefield Regional Medical Center, according to Trooper B.R. Wood of the West Virginia State Police Princeton Detachment.

“She was found at Bluefield Regional,” Wood said. “But she wasn’t injured or anything.”

Wood said calls received from concerned citizens who learned about the missing girl through the Daily Telegraph’s website helped in locating her.

Although she was found at the hospital, the teen wasn’t injured, and had not been hospitalized. Wood said he didn’t know why the teen was at the hospital.
