Volunteers prep armory for Taste of Home Cooking School

BLUEFIELD — Area residents will have a chance to spice up their evening with the return of the popular Taste of Home Cooking School to the Brushfork Armory today.

Chef Cheryl Cohen, from Ohio, will demonstrate spring recipes ranging from appetizers to desserts as part of the show. Cohen is a culinary specialist for the Taste of Home Cooking School.

“I will be making 10 seasonal recipes and I will have something for everyone,” Cohen said. “From the most experienced cook to beginner cooks.”

Cohen said she will be giving away cookbooks as door prizes and also be giving away each dish she makes at the end of the show.

“It is just going to be a wonderful time and I invite everyone to come out and share recipes with one another,” Cohen said.

According to Bluefield Daily Telegraph Retail Sales Manager Natalie Fanning, the cooking school is an annual event for residents of the two Virginias and is something everyone can enjoy.

“Local vendors such as Sabika, Scentsy, University of Charleston Culinary School, Pampered Chef, Princeton Community Hospital and many, many more vendors will be attending,” Fanning said.

General admission tickets are $15 on the day of the show. Admission also includes a canned food donation for the Bluefield Union Mission. VIP tickets are available and include reserved seating, a Taste of Home Cookbook, a meet-and-greet with Cheryl Cohen and other goodies.

Door prizes from sponsors and goody bags will be given to participants.
