Cats could be euthanized by 6 p.m. Wednesday

PRINCETON — The Mercer County Animal Shelter is trying to adopt out or foster as many of its cats as possible so the shelter’s cat area can be disinfected. Any cats remaining after 6 p.m. Wednesday may be euthanized, said County Commissioner Gene Buckner.

A respiratory infection has spread among the cats, and they must be removed before their quarters can be thoroughly cleaned, Buckner said. The shelter had 65 cats as of today. He said euthanizing any cats would be “a last resort.”
