BLUEFIELD — A portion of Cherry Street in Bluefield will be temporarily closed to all non-emergency traffic Thursday evening as crews work on electrical equipment.
Appalachian Power released a statement Tuesday indicating Cherry Street will be closed from Bluefield Regional Medical Center to Highland Avenue from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday evening while crews work to repair electrical equipment damaged due to a recent vehicle accident.
Motorists are asked to plan alternate routes in advance as only emergency vehicles will be allowed on the road during the planned construction. The hospital can be accessed from Maryland Avenue while repairs are ongoing Thursday.
The approximately 40 customers served by APCO in the area will not have electric service until repairs are complete.
