Search warrant leads to drug-related arrests in McDowell County

WELCH — A McDowell County man has been arrested on a drug-related charge after authorities found marijuana packaged for delivery and a large quantity of pseudoephedrine at a residence he was living at in the Bradshaw community, according to Sheriff Martin West.

West said officers with the McDowell Sheriff's Office along with the Southern Regional Drug and Violent Crime Task Force and the Bradshaw Police Department executed a search warrant at the residence late Wednesday evening.

Upon conducting the search warrant West said the officers found a quantity of marijuana packaged for delivery and a sum of cash. Along with the marijuana West said the officers found a large quantity of pseudoephedrine which is one of the ingredients to methamphetamine.

West said Graham Wade Akers, 24, of Bradshaw, was arrested and charged with possession with intent to deliver a schedule I controlled substance and was arraigned before Magistrate Steve Cox. Bond was set at $15,000 and he was remanded back to the McDowell County Holding Unit.
